New Torsion Control System
The Torsion Control System  has undergone modifications and been perfected, increasing its functionality and safety performance. The System has been noticeably updated and is now made up of 4 combined elements. The main structure has a double heel and a frame that allow lateral and longitudinal movement of the ankle, preventing torsion beyond natural limit and therefore protecting the joints from possible injuries. This main structure is connected to an X-shaped central body sewn to the upper, that connects the upper part to the lower part of the boot and guarantees excellent hold for the leg.

New Metatarsal Control System
The known M.C.S.  has been notably improved, with a strong technological development that has brought perceptible functional progress. The system is based on a rigit shell with a rotation mechanism that incorporates programmed stops at the top and bottom, designed to prevent excessive flexion of the metatarsal either up or down. The special position of the point of flexion and the mew ovoid pivot guarantee freedom of movement for the foot and excellent sensitivity when riding. The new slider in steel, present in RS version, is highly resistant to abrasion and has a perforated structure that allows the passage of air and therefore better breathability, working in synergy with the new 'ventilated' sole.

I was really impressed with the over-all construction and style of this boot. This style offers a pretty comprehensive set of ankle and heel protection along with all the usual armor features found on race boots. The overall look is attractive and not over-the-top flashy (just one man?s opinion). Speaking of ankle protection systems, I really liked the Torsion Control System. I?ve included the manufacturer?s notes below to give you some physical details. But to sum it up, the system is designed to protect your ankle from being hyper-extended in any direction while still allowing you to walk around with a reasonable amount of comfort. To accomplish this there is a hard plastic ankle brace in the back of the boot that wraps around both sides. The brace is connected at the bottom of the boot with about half an inch of room to flex in any direction.

These Air Tech XCR Touring boots are perfect for the warm weather/all weather rider. A large portion of this boot is a tight weave ?Air Tech? fiber that allows air to pass through freely. The boot has a Gore-Tex liner which keeps water out but allows for foot moisture to escape. Not that I love these boots so much, but I just had to put the lip lock on them and attempt to force air through. Low and behold, I could feel my breath on the inside! I didn?t go as far as to dunk them in water, but I bet they?ll keep water out too. Amazing! The overall style of this boot is ideal for street riders and commuters. Due to the height of the boot it can also be worn by sport riders who use pants that tuck in. This boot also offers a comfortable natural feel when off the bike.

Shock Absorbing Heel Cup: Three stage, shock absorbing heel cup molded in three different densities of plastic is one element that sets the Vertigo series apart from all other sport boots. -Lining in the toe area is Cambrelle (a soft, but strong lining)

-Lorica is a composite micro fiber material that acts like natural leather, but is stronger, lighter weight, has a higher abrasion resistance, is more breathable, and more flexible
Lorica is also easy to maintain as it does not stain and it cannot be scratched

-Teflon liner prevents water or sweat from being absorbed- the boot dries quickly and does not form mold

-Techno Calf Tensioner adjusts the leg circumference- placed in the back of the boot's upper, it works through a nylon wire that hooks directly to the shin plate. It is replaceable.

-Shock absorbing heel cup is a polyurethane shell that holds a shock absorbing inser, visible from the outside through 4 small slits that mark out the look of the heel. The shell is mobile as it's fixed to the boot by 2 screw that allow 3mm of impact movement.

-Shin plate is made in nylon and it is inserted on a polyurethene frontal support. Both parts are replaceable.

-Vortice Slider made of nylon and reinforced with fiberglass. It is fitted with a new air intake and an innovative alloy insert.

-Racing SRS Sole constructed of a polyurethane and rubber blend. It features a removable insert in front of the arch area where much wear and tear normally occurs due to sharp metal brake pedals and shift levers.

-Gear change pad is molded of DuPont Techno-polymers to ensure the quality of the plastic on this boot at high and low temperatures

-Composite inner sole resists side-to-side compression for great protection; insole features a removable arch support that will never lose its dynamic characteristics (water resistant and designed to withstand high footpeg pressures)

-Ankle Suppoert Braces join the ankle joint with 2 screw that are hidden by a nylon cap. This system supports the ankle and is reinforced with fiberglass and is easy to replace. This system allows excellent flex movement front-to-back while being firm side-to-side.

-SIDI has added a small elastic panel to aid in a smooth zipper operation as it allows a bit of movement via the elastic as the zipper passes over the rider's ankle ball.

The Vortice is Sidi?s latest and greatest for track racers. The boot expands upon and improves upon the safety and comfort of their previous (now obsolete) Vertigo Corsa. This boot has a re-designed ankle/shin/leg support system. Instead of most designs that feature an upper brace connected to the lower foot by way of a hinge mechanism, this boot also offers more freedom of natural movement because the upper leg brace consists of two pieces that are connected together, but that move independently. You can therefore get more front-to-back movement, but with the side-to-side support to help prevent injury. The brace system opens up like a clam shell which fits around an inner boot made of (the usual) Lorica material. The upper brace fastens with Sidi?s exclusive ?techno tensioners? at the base of the front shin armor and in the rear upper calf area. The tensioner consists of what looks like nylon fishing line connected to a positive locking ratchet mechanism. It?s a proven design (previously used successfully on the Vertigo Corsa) and works quite well to provide a custom fit to a wide range of leg sizes. There is also a tensioner across the instep. The other new/big improvement is the sole design. Like some off-road boots, this boot has a replaceable sole which will add additional life to this boot (which is a good thing considering the price!). Venting is standard on the boot through a unique vent positioned front and center and built into the toe slider. There is another vent on the outside of the foot just below the ankle. Both vents have an open-close feature and both provide a clear path for air to rush into the boot. Of course you get the other safety features you?d expect on a high-end racing boot such as shin protection, heel impact protection and a rigid toe box. Here?s some advice for those who might consider this boot for off-track use: In order to get this boot on, you have to completely disengage the three tensioners and open the boot?s front and back leg brace system, then unzip the side zipper. Then you slide your foot in and reverse the whole procedure and then do it all again on the other foot! So for those that want a race-type boot for weekend sport riding or commuting, please consider a less elaborate design. This is really for racers who want the special features and aren?t concerned about the 5 minutes it would take to put them on each time.

Review:
A short hiking style boot like this is a favorite with a lot of people for street riding. The boots are easy-on, easy-off and since they look a lot like street shoe styles, they can be worn anywhere comfortably. For touring riders and commuters, it means you don't necessarily have to pack other boots for use off the bike. The Jupiter 2 has some design features to make it motorcycle friendly such as the lower profile sole and the Velcro-close flap over the laces. The boots have some reinforcements built into the toe box and heel area and there is also some extra padding around the ankle. The protection in these boots isn't as substantial as with full-on motorcycle boots, but they seem appropriate for a shorter, lightweight design like this.

The boots have a Gore-Tex mid-liner to make them waterproof. Keep in mind though that this is a short boot so rain can easily enter over the top, but if your pants are long enough and will shed water around the boots, then you'll be OK. And just for walking around in wet weather, you'll appreciate the waterproof capability. I find the boots to be extremely comfortable right out of the box and they are sharp looking as well. I can see myself wearing these on or off the bike and liking them a lot.

This boot may not have a flashy look like alpinestar smx1 shoe or sidi street burner, it is cool for people who appreciate simple and nice. Besides great outlook, it is a practical and down to earth boot which suit very much to Malaysia weather, where heavy rain and hot sun is unevitable. Goretex XCR play great role that other shoe can't offer, that is Water-Proofing with Substancial Ventilation. Normally, the two feature won't come together, water-proof mean you have to sacrifice ventilation, but this boot will allow you to kill two bird with one stone. Some other boot maybe WATER RESISTANT, but TCX Jupiter is WATERPROOF. Try to soak the boot in a pail filled with quarters water and you will experience the magic!

Some of the features that makes this style more appealing to an aggressive street rider are the toe sliders, ankle armor/brace system and the same shock absorbing heel cup found in Sidi?s high-end race boots.
